Shri Laxmivenkatramana Temple: This temple is located at a distance of 400m from KSRTC Bus Stand Puttur and 300m from Shree Mahalingeshwara Temple. God Vishnu, Goddess Laxmi is the main deities in this temple.

Bendru Theertha: It is a natural hot water spring, located at a distance of about 15 km from Puttur town in the Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka, India. This is the only natural hot spring in South India.

Birumale Hills: After visiting BendruTheertha, you can travel back to Putturto to visit Birumale Hills.It is just 2 km away from the Puttur bus stand.  It is the highest peak of Puttur. You can see a wonderful view of Puttur city from a height.

Dr. Shivaram KaranthBalavana: At a distance of 2 KM South to Puttur you can visit the house of the famous novelist, Jnana Peeta Awardee Dr. Shivaram Karanthwho stayed here for 40 years. The house of Dr Karanthis now converted into a  museum.

Vitla Shri Panchalingeshwara Temple: This is an ancient Temple that has a relationship with Pandavas. It is believed that Pandavas established five lingas at this place.

  • Temple is open between 6:30 AM-1:30 PM and 5:30 PM-8:30 PM.

Bakasura Cave : This cave is at a distance of 3KM from Vitla. It is believed that demon Bakasura used to rest here.
It is suggested better to take help of local people to reach and explore this cave.

Return to Puttur for going towards Uppinangady:

Katara Falls: It is a small falls situated 9KM North-East to Puttur. You can have some fun here and spend some time here.

Shree Sahasralingeshwara Temple, Uppinangady : An ancient temple that has its history dating back to the Mahabharat period(Dwapara yuga). Lord Shiva is the main deity. 

Shree Mahakali Temple : A temple dedicated to Goddess Mahakali. This temple is present adjacent to Shree Sahasralingeshwara Temple.

  • M Sanjeev Shetty (Manohar Textiles), Radhas, Sneha Silks are the famous textile shops in Puttur. You can buy good quality Silk Sarees and various types of clothes. They have a good collection of clothes.
  • S.K. BEE KEEPERS CO-OP SOCIETY - If you want to buy honey, you can buy good quality, fresh honey, here from this society office.
  • Markets are usually open between Monday and Saturday. On Sunday, most of the shops are closed.

  • Try to visit Puttur in the month of April between April 10 and April 20. Annual car festival (Annual Fair) at Shree Mahalingeshwara is held during this time. You can be a part of Usthav of Lord Mahalingeshwara.
